You may be asking, who is the best headshot photographer?
Well, that comes down to a number of different factors. Who you choose is an important consideration, and can take a lot of time. You want to pick someone that you gel with, and makes the experience fun rather than scary.
Here are some tips for choosing the right headshot photographer for you.

PORTFOLIO
When looking for a photographer, their portfolio is one of the first things you look at. This gives you a good idea of their style, and how consistent they are with it.
Keep in mind what you like, and see if the photographer matches this. Do you want something bright and airy? Or do you prefer something moodier? Each photographer is different, and this is reflected in their work.
If you love their work, that’s a great first step in choosing the one for you.

PROCESS
Just like portfolios, each photographer’s process is different.
Do they have a studio? Or do they shoot outside? Lots of headshot photographers find natural light to be the best light to work with. However, if you’d rather work in a studio, then make sure you ask this question if it’s not obvious on their website.
How long do their shoots typically last? Look on their website and see if this works for you.

PRICE
The price may be an important factor in deciding which headshot photographer you want to work with. Remember that this is an investment for your business which can be used for years.
In short, cheapest isn’t always the best, but neither is the most expensive option.
Look at what the photographer offers for that price. How long is the session? How many images are provided?
It’s also very important to see how accommodating the photographer is to your needs.

PERSONALITY
Often the deciding factor will come down to the photographer’s personality. It’s important that they are friendly yet professional.
Look at their reviews, maybe even book a call with them. You can find out so much more about their personality through a quick phone call.
Overall it’s a lot to think about. You may love the portfolio but not the price, but there may be options for you if you speak to the photographer.
There are many factors to consider when hiring a photographer, and it might feel overwhelming. If you’re not sure, start by searching “Photographers in Sussex” or wherever you are, and note down a few you like. Next, get in contact with them and see if you would be a good fit. For me personally, I’d be happy to chat on the phone or even meet for a coffee to see if we’re a good fit!
