If you saw my post last month, you’ll probably know that Southampton is one of my favourite places to photograph people on location. I lived and studied there for 3 years, and have some great spots that I regularly use for my work. The above images were taken in Ocean Village, and if you’ve been there, you’ll probably recognise the giant steps I use for many of my photographs.

Southampton is also known for some of the brutalist architecture, especially near the train station. I regularly worked there for both portrait and landscape photography. The architecture here is great for clients who want an ‘edgier’ look to their brand.

With lots of open spaces, Southampton is great for group shots too! This particular photo was taken by the SeaCity Museum, which is also close to Southampton Central train station.

For a more natural portrait, there are lots of parks and green spaces which can be used any time of year. If you’re looking for a particular flower or tree to be in full bloom, you will need to wait until the right season.
Southampton is a great location for portraits of all styles, with lots of incredible backdrops ranging from Ocean Village, to the SeaCity Museum. I’d love to know what your favourite locations are, in Southampton or anywhere else!
