We recently had a shoot with Oscar who is a local musician. We took the photos in Chichester, West Sussex and experimented with different tools to manipulate the light.
Here are some of our favourite shots that day:
I feel so grateful for receiving a First Class Honours in photography, and even more grateful for receiving the Rosy Maguire Graduate Prize.
Rosy was a technician at Solent University and I was lucky to meet her at one of the many open days before starting the course. Her love of the darkroom and alternative techniques really showed and was inspirational to so many. Winning this prize means the world to me and is an absolute honour. I wanted to have something that represents this honour, something that I can look at everyday. So now I have a little award on my desk as a reminder each day of the amazing time at university and all of the amazing people I was able to meet.
In 2015, I came up with the name GS Creative Photography, a simple name which includes my initials as well as what I do. I was in my second year of college studying photography and graphic design, and the name was chosen surprisingly quick. I’ve kept the name over the last 5 years, while I continued my studies through university, and now as a freelance photographer.
The business started off as a Facebook page, slowly growing to over 500 likes now! Over time I began to put my business on various platforms and create a new website as the business grew.
I also spent years building up my portfolio, trying every kind of photography I could find. While at University, I started contacting businesses and building local relationships. I was thrilled to be trusted by so many people to photograph various subjects.
Now in 2020, I have graduated from Solent University with a First Class Honours in Photography. It’s exciting to now use everything I have learnt to grow the business further and dedicate all my time to it.
It’s lovely working with new people to capture their vision, as well as catching up with old faces each time they need fresh photography.
2020 has been an interesting year for everyone, and I look forward to what 2021 brings for the business.
All the best,
